Carl Sagan

Jul 10, 2014 - 1:04am

Are we as a human race heading for dust and ruin or glory and prosperity? In a paradox, both. We are walking our way to our greatest heights and triumphs and most trying and heartbreaks by stepping forward... it's the ebb and flow, and constant motion of tomorrow.

Carl Sagan
....The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner. How frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity - in all this vastness - there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves....

There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world.

Chile - Past not forgotten

30 for 30 (ESPN) - Opposition...
What happened here was evil.

I always believed what Allende said in his last speech
"Great avenues will open again through which free men will pass."

I thank God for the opportunity he gave me to walk the paths of freedom once more... and for which many people sacrificed their lives.

Sherlock Holmes - Elementary (CBS)
If, I can never value a relationship properly than at which point do I stop trying to maintain them.

He has NO ambition and NO energy. He will not even go out of his way to verify his own solutions. He rather be consider wrong than going through the trouble of proving himself right... I guess I wanted less, I suppose.

I'm not intellectually oppose to NOT teaching Science methodology... it is not for everyone / community.

I rather schools teach the 3 "R's" if scientific method is an issue.

Endrer's Game

Ender's Game
No one but the enemy will ever teach you how to destroy and conquer. Only the enemy shows you where you are weak. Only the enemy tells you where he is strong.

Frozen

Frozen
I don't care
What they're going to say
Let the storm rage on,...

And the fears that once controlled me
Can't get to me at all....
It's funny how some distance
Makes everything seem small....

Here I stand
And here I'll stay
Let the storm rage on...
The cold never bothered me anyway

So when the world knocks at your door, clutch the knob tightly and open on up. And run forward. Run forward as fast and as far as you must.

Under the Milky Way

The Church
Sometimes when this place gets kind of empty
Sound of their breath fades with the light
I think about the loveless fascination

John Madden Quote

Dec 26, 2013 - 9:52am

John Madden at Pat Summerall funeral services
The criteria for greatness and being the best in what you do or have ever done is... can the history of what you did be done without mentioning your name.

Quote was at the beginning of an NFL network show called the Football Life about Pat Summerall...
